Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend having your air conditioner serviced in the spring and your furnace or boiler serviced in the fall — Optimally, once per year per system (air conditioner and furnace), but every two years is adequate. Regular tune-ups help your system run efficiently, reduce breakdowns, and extend equipment lifespan.
A typical tune-up includes:
Inspection of all mechanical and electrical components
Cleaning of burners, flame sensors, and coils
Checking refrigerant levels and pressures (A/C)
Checking for carbon monoxide leaks (heating)
Calibration of thermostats and safety controls
Filter inspection and recommendations
At Prescription Heating and Cooling, we take the time to do it right and explain any issues we find before making repairs.
That depends on your system and home needs. Most systems work well with a 1-inch pleated filter, but homes with pets or allergies may benefit from media box filters, like HEPA or similar. As a general rule, check filters monthly and replace every 1–6 months depending on filter size and environmental conditions.
