Manage Your Heating Bills this Winter

In this day and age, it’s important to save money when and where you can. And one of the best ways to save money during the winter months is by trying to conserve money on your home heating bills. We are an HVAC contractor serving Roseville and the surrounding area, so we thought we would share some tips on how you can save a few bucks.

Consider installing a new thermostat if you haven’t already. There are now programmable thermostats available that will increase and decrease the temperature in your house at times that you pre-set. For example, if you leave for work at 7 a.m. and get home around 5 p.m., you can program your thermostat to drop the temperature to 65 degrees while you’re out of your house and then increase the temperature to a more comfortable 68 degrees just before you are due to get home. That way, while you’re not at home, you can save some money on your heating bill but still be nice, warm and cozy while you’re at home. You also won’t have to wait for your chilly house to warm up after you get out of work.

If you haven’t done this already, have a professional insulation come out and take a look at the state of your house’s insulation. You can also call a windows or home improvement company to install new double-paned windows that will keep warm out in and cold air out. There are also thermal curtains on the market today that can help with keeping your home insulated, and those curtains usually are not that expensive.

Every year, you should have your furnace and home heating system inspected by an HVAC contractor like us. We can come out, take a look at your furnace and make any necessary repairs to this appliance if they are needed. We can also make sure your furnace has a new air filter in it before the winter weather hits. Keep an eye on those filters throughout the winter months, and make sure you change filters at least once every month or two.

These are just a handful of suggestions on how you might be able to save some money on your home heating bills during the cold winter months.
